Which ITI Course Should You Choose? Electrician, COPA, Welder or Solar

Choosing the right ITI course matters — it decides the kind of work you will do and where you can find a job. Here is a simple comparison of the four courses at Dekson ITI, Akola, to help you decide.

Electrician — for hands-on electrical work

• Eligibility: 10th pass · Duration: 2 years
• What you learn: wiring, motors, electrical maintenance for homes, factories and industry.
• Jobs: electrician, wireman, maintenance technician, electrical contractor, or your own repair business. It is also a common route into a government job through apprenticeship.

COPA (Computer Operator & Programming Assistant) — for office work

• Eligibility: 10th pass · Duration: 1 year
• What you learn: computer operation, office software, data entry, internet, basics of programming.
• Jobs: computer operator, data entry operator, office/accounts assistant, or running your own computer centre / online-services shop.

Welder — a strong choice even after 8th

• Eligibility: 8th pass · Duration: 1 year
• What you learn: arc, gas and MIG/TIG welding, fabrication.
• Jobs: welder, fabrication technician, structural steel worker, or your own welding workshop. If you did not complete 10th, this is a real path to a skilled job.

Solar Technician (Electrical) — a fast-growing field

• Eligibility: 10th pass · Duration: 1 year
• What you learn: installing, wiring and maintaining solar panels, pumps and small plants.
• Jobs: solar installation and maintenance technician, rooftop installer, or your own solar servicing business. Demand is rising across rural Maharashtra with schemes like PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM.
